6 Things to Do in September With Kids in Antioch and Pittsburg

What to do before the month ends!

By Stephanie Valadez September 19, 2022

Oh, September is coming to an end. The kids are back to school, the sun is going down earlier, the nights are cooler ... and fall officially arrives.

But did you know it's also the month to eat a cheeseburger, celebrate comic books, and talk like a pirate?

Here are 6 September holidays that can help you have a ton of fun with your kids in Antioch and Pittsburg!

1. Order a pizza
Sept. 20

Yum, yum... get me some! National Pepperoni Pizza Day is the perfect day to order dinner from your favorite pizza spot in Antioch and Pittsburg! I know everyone has their favorite pizza spot in Antioch and Pittsburg, but here's my family's favorite place to order pizza:

  • Mountain Mikes Pizza located on 3612 Lone Tree Way
  • Skipolinis Pizza located on 901 Fitzuren Rd
  • MOD Pizza 4310 Century Blvd

2. Celebrate National Library Card Sign up month!

If you didn't know already, our Antioch and Pittsburg libraries offer many activities throughout the week! They offer crochet lessons, arts and crafts after school, and, especially my favorite, the reading time with the librarian called Stay and Play for children under 5 years of age. Check our your local library resources and activities and sign up for your library card!

3. Eat a ice cream cone
Sept. 22

If there's anything we love more than pizza ... it's ice cream, especially at Dairy Queen on National Ice Cream Cone Day!

Also check out!:

  • Fosters Freeze on E 18th St in Antioch
  • Guantanos Ice Cream in Bay Point

4. Hispanic Heritage Month!

Hola amigos! What better way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month than with... you guessed it! TACOS! There are a lot of taco places and trucks to try around the Antioch and Pittsburg area, but one of our favorites is Taco & Co located on 1005 Center Dr in Pittsburg! Check out their Instagram @tacoandcompany!

Another favorite places are:

  • Taqueria La Bonita located on 2715 Contra Loma Blvd, Antioch
  • El Burro Veloz on 4815 Lone Tree Way, Antioch
  • Taqueria El Grullense 2135 Willow Pass Rd, Bay Point

5. Don't forget to save your photos!
Sept. 24

On this National Day, use it as reminder to save your photos! Fall has officially begun, so save all your summer memories to make room for the end of year!

6. Pancake Day!
Sept. 26

Yum! One of the most loved breakfast options! PANCAKES! You can form them into fun shapes and characters for your littles, top them with fruits and granola, or stuff with chocolate and top off with whipped cream! *is your mouth watering yet* Whichever way you like to eat them, take this day to head over to Monicas Riverview Restaurant in Antioch where they have some of the best pancakes in town!- from original butter to multigrain to lemon ricotta pancakes! Check out their Instagram @monicasriverview
